Maison Gally
The Innkeeper
Meet your host, Zeric
My Hosting Philisophy
Welcome to Maison Gally! I am Zeric, your host and resident innkeeper. After a rewarding career traveling the globe as a diplomat, I chose to settle in the beautiful, lively city of Carcassonne. Today, I am thrilled to open the doors of my 16th-century home to travelers from all over the world. I love welcoming guests to my adopted city and sharing my passions for history, jazz and contemporary music, art, and travel. I’m also an avid road and gravel cyclist and would love to accompany any interested cyclists on a recreational ride along the canal or a more intense training ride in the hills close to town if you are interested!
Whether you are here for a single night or a week-long getaway, my goal is to make your stay as comfortable, memorable, and seamless as possible.
The Vibe at Maison Gally
I am passionate about curating a unique and relaxing atmosphere in the house. When you arrive, you will likely notice two of my greatest passions:
- A Love for Jazz: You will often hear a curated soundtrack of great jazz music lightly playing in the background. I also often attend concerts at our local community jazz club, Croco Bleu (Where I volunteer).
- Contemporary African Art: My travels have inspired an eclectic taste, and I love sharing my collection of contemporary African art, which brings modern energy to the medieval stone walls of our historic home. (the Maison Gally collection is not for sale).
- Local Regional Artists: Some of the art you see here in Maison Gally is painted by local regional artists. I make wall space available to promote their work. If you are interested in purchasing it, let me know and I will happily put you directly in touch with the artists.
A note on pets: I am an animal lover, and share the home with two friendly, well-behaved resident dogs. You are not required to interact with them, but they are always happy to make new friends if you choose to.
“I’m happy to spend time with my guests or give them space.”
As a retired diplomat, I understand the art of reading the room. I live on-site on the first floor, which means I am always available if you need anything. I love sharing my local knowledge, offering restaurant recommendations, or even taking a morning walk with you as the dogs and I go out to greet our friends in the neighborhood. If you would like to book a more in-depth guided walking tour of the Bastide, a bike ride on the canal, or other tours specialised for your interests, please let me know and I will happily organize them for you.
However, I also deeply respect your privacy. Whether you want to share travel stories over an espresso in the atrium or simply retreat to your room for some quiet downtime, I let you set the pace for your visit.
Meet the Co-Hosts
Maison Gally is a true home, which means I share it with a few furry friends! We have two friendly, well-behaved dogs, Annie and Camilla.
Our pets are a beloved part of the Maison Gally experience for many of our visitors. As one guest, Christopher, shared: “The best part was the two very friendly dogs… incredibly friendly and very well trained dogs who love people.”
Of course, if you prefer not to interact with them, they are perfectly happy to give you your space
